Search Shares Battle

It seems Microsoft is struggling to hold the ground in Internet services, the latest figures are telling a different story. Currently Microsoft is losing its ground to Google.

Microsoft and Yahoo both are suffering traffic lose. Based on Neilsen data, SearchEnginWatch is saying the Microsoft and Yahoo have lost ground in the past year. Most of the traffic has gone to Google, the search giants gained about 8 % year over year, where as Microsoft lost 19 % and Yahoo has lost 12 % and this figures are not so good for both the companies, even if we combine the search share of both the companies, it would be less than half of Google's share. A monopoly can be establish in up coming year if Google continues its run in field of search.

Do the hit counters at ComScore have a different take on this situation? The Seattle Post-Intelligencer quotes a ComeScore study that shows Microsoft's search share holing steady. However, that refers to October vs September search share. If we take a look over period of one year, then a sharp decline can be seen as Neilsan found.

Under this two contradictory headlines, there is actually some consistent data. Since last year, Microsoft has lost almost 20 percent of its search share, but in recent time period this sharp fall had a halt. Even Yahoo has observed a slight uptick in searches over the past two months. Even if this two merge then does it will make any difference in this case when both are way behind Google.

Sanyo Broke Away From Panasonic's Deal

Deal going between Panasonic and Sanyo Electric broke off abruptly this week, when Sanyo shareholder Goldman Sachs walked out of negotiations, according to media reports from Tokyo. It is said that two sides are far apart in the prices they were offering for a deal.

The negotiations was under the shadow of disagreement, but i was clear that Panasonic was offering far less pricing than the Sanyo shareholders were expecting to get through deal. Even so, an acquisition is expected to be accomplished at more than $8 billion and possibly much more based on the reports that were flowing circularly around negotiation for months.

"We're no longer in talks with Panasonic on Sanyo," a Goldman Sachs spokeswoman told The Wall Street Journal. Goldman, along with Daiwa Securities SMBC and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Co., reportedly controls about 70% of Sanyo.

If this deal get green chit, the Panasonic-Sanyo company could rival Japan's current largest corporate, Hitachi, which currently have some $110 billion in annual sales. For Panasonic deals means a lot because Sanyo has an long history of producing outstanding product in field of advance battery technology and solar energy product, and by undertaking Sanyo, Panasonic can get a good hold over energy market.
It is all to be noted that Sanyo is suffering from a financially crises and was forced to sell off some of its business units.

Earlier this year, Goldman pressured Sanyo's founding family to sell the company's interest in its mobile unit and deal was ready to carried out for a $375 million sales price to Kyocera. This act of contracting made Kyocera into the No. 4 mobile phone position in Japan.
Preliminary negotiations between Panasonic and Sanyo established that the strong Sanyo brand would live on in any acquisition.

Google Plans To Pre-Instal Chrome On PCs

Google is plans to convince computer makers to per-install its Chrome Web browser on their PCs, if they succeed then Google can give a stiff competition to market leaders like Mozilla's Firefox and Microsoft's IE.

In addition, Google VP of product management, Sundar Pichai, told The Times that the company planned to launch a major marketing push behind Chrome once Google finished with beta testing and launched the final version in January.

"We will probably do distribution deals," Pichai told the London newspaper. "We could work with an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and have them ship computers with Chrome pre-installed."
If they succeed then then this strategy could certainly help Google to boost their browser in the world of Internet. Though, Google's Chrome is currently stands at less than 1% of web users. Since browser is a doorway to the Web, the software is an important avenue for steering users to online services.

Pichai said Google would launch a major push to get its browser before the public, once the software is out of testing mode. "We will throw our weight behind it," he told the newspaper.

Pichai also said that Google planned to launch versions of Chrome for Linux and Apple's Mac OS X in the first half of next year. The current version of Chrome only runs on Windows

Microsoft is also planning to launch their final version of Internet Explorer8, which currently undergoing its beta testing. Recently the company said the final version could come as early as the first quarter. IE8 includes a number of new features, particularly in area of privacy.

Microsoft's Morro Offering Free Security Software

On Tuesday, Microsoft said that they are planned to kill off its Window Live OneCare subscription security service in favor of a free offering that will feature a core of essential anti-malware tools while eliminates its peripheral services, like PC tune-up programs consist in OneCare.
This step will make Microsoft to get there footstep in low-cost PC market, a side-effect of this step is to catch the eye of trust busters.

Microsoft said, new services, presently code named Morro, will be suitable for use on low cost, low powered notebooks which are gaining popularity in markets and in some of the North American computer market.

"This new no-cost offering will give us the ability to protect an even greater number of consumers, especially in markets where the growth of new PC purchases is outpaced only by the growth of malware," said Amy Barzdukas, Microsoft's senior product manager for online services and Windows, in a statement.
The definition of malware consists a wide range of computer threats, including viruses, sypware, rootkits and Trojans. Many of the hackers connected to organized crime, many times hacker use such tools to extract sensitive data.

Microsoft announced to launch Morro in June 2009, at which time it will discontinue the $49.95/year OneCare service. Morro will be compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and forthcoming Window 7 operating system, the company said.

"By offering such basic protection at no charge to the consumer, Microsoft is promoting a safer environment for PCs, service providers and e-commerce itself," said industry analyst Roger Kay, president of Endpoint Technologies Associates.

Intel's Turn to be in the Spotlight

Just after AMD's launch of its latest server chip last week, now its Intel's turn to gather audience.
Intel launch its newest generation of desktop processors on 17th of November. Called as Core i7, the main aim of Intel is to attract users of high-end desktop and gaming field.

This launching make Intel way ahead than its rival AMD by a good margin of few months, since AMD's comparable desktop processor are scheduled to launch early next year.
An analyst. Patrick Wang said, "AMD now just doesn't have a competitive chip against Intel on the desktop"

The Core i7 is almost four to six times faster than any Intel's platform, says the company, Core i7 comes with a great power efficiency than ever, it is based on same 45-nanometer technology that first was seen in server chip known as Xeon, which launched earlier this year.

The 45-nm is a new technology in chips world and of-course with new improved circuitry which is way smaller than it previous, 65-nm gen, makes them more faster and enables company to manufacture them at low cost. The latest Core i7 chips are based on a new designed micro architecture called Nehalem, which includes a major design changes such as power management and integrated memory control.

The first three quad-core of Core i7 chips from Intel will follow technology called "Hyperthreading", which enhance chip to execute up to 8 threads simultaneously on 4 processing cores, which significantly increases their processing power. Hyperthreading was introduce in earlier Intel chips like Pentium 4 chips and some Xeon processors.

QuickPath, a new micro architecture is also introduce in Core i7 that integrates memory controller into each microprocessor. QuickPath will replace Front Side Bus used in Xeon and Itanium platform of Intel. This will increase the bandwidth directly available to the processor, reducing lag time before a CPU can executing the next instruction.

"Core i7 will be one of the first Intel chips to integrate a memory controller," says Shane Rau, PC analyst at research firm IDC, "though it is something AMD has had for a while."

The first chips being released are quad-core desktop models, the 920, 940, and 965 Extreme. Clock speeds are 2.66 GHz, 2.93 GHz, and 3.2 GHz, respectively, and prices in batches of 1,000 are $284, $562, and $999.

Intel plans to release Core i7 models for servers in the first half of next year and models for notebooks in the second half.

Intel is taking no chances with Core i7. The company has spent millions to test the chips and ensure flaws in it don't trip it up, says The New York Times.

Adobe Flash isn't just Online Multimedia Software anymore

In recent time Adobe is releasing several new product and their updates, now they are not just a online multimedia software anymore.

"We've wrapped all of our branding and messaging around the Adobe Flash Platform," explained Michele Turner, VP of product marketing and product management for Adobe's platform business unit. This isn't new, she said, "it's just packaged the way it should have been years ago."
On the Web total percentage of Flash power video is about 80%, said Turner.

Of course, Microsoft, has been promoting its Silverlight technology as an alternate of Flash. The open source technology like HTML, CSS and Ajax are growing and Microsoft is trying to get hold over it. To fend Microsoft, Adobe is rolling out new releases and update day after day to remain favorite of their arms supplier to multimedia designers and developers.

Adobe is planing to lunch their new product called Adobe Flash Catalyst, which is a designing tool to create application interface without any coding. Demonstrated previously under the code name Thermo, Adobe Flash Catalyst ingests files from Adobe Creative Suite 4 application so they can publish it to Flash or AIR, this wil allow Adobe's framework to run rich internet applications outside the browser, and open the gate for design and development collaboratively, in con conjunction with an upcoming version of Flex Builder.

"It's an Eclipse-based tool that has an integrated two-way work flow," explained Turner. It will allow designer and developers to work for their project in parallel.

Adobe is also planning to release a preview version of the new Flex builder that integrates with Adobe Flash Catalyst called "Gumbo" on Monday. Company is hoping to attract a large number of developers. Beyond its new collaborative capabilities, the software features enhancements to the core integrated development environment, debugger, and editor. It also consist of new code profiling components and data-centric development capabilities.

Turner said that Flex Builder has been popular with JavaScript developers but less so with general scripted. Adobe, she said, wants to make Flex Builder a more general-purpose programming tool.

AIR 1.5 is also in queue or getting launch for Mac OS X and Window on Monday, and Linux version before end of this year.
Adobe already updated its Flash Media Server technology to enable dynamic streaming for servers, and to include enhanced AAC audio and improved content protection. Not only this company plans to demonstrate Flash Player 10 for smartphones though not the iPhones.

Google's Service to Index Web sites on Demand

Google has planned to add a button to its Google Site Search control panel, that will allow companies to use the service to index their Web site on demand. Google's search site is $100 -plus per year search as a service offering for public Web sites.
Previously, Site Search customers had no choice other than to wait for Google's Web crawler to re-index their sites, which might take few days. The exact time to re-index a page depends upon the algorithm that Google uses to calculate the interval between indexing sessions.

Nitin Mangtani, a lead product manager for Google Enterprise Search products, declined to provide details about how that interval is determined.
When new content is added to Web site, it's effectively invisible to Google Site Search unit it gets indexed, to wait several days for this to happen makes things difficult and a good time waste. That's the reason why, Google is providing a Site Search customers the leash to its spider.
Nitin Mangtani said, "We re-index the Web sites when they change but we don't give the end-user any control over when they want them re-indexed. With this release, that's what we're offering them."
Adobe is using Google Site Search on its Web Site and the company recently tested on-demand indexing for the launch of Adobe Creative Suite 4.
Tanya Wendling, senior director for Learning Resources at Adobe said in a statement that "Google Site Search made it easy to implement search across our Creative Suite product line and online sites, and we are now able to index thousands of new pages and make them available to millions of users worldwide within hours"

There will be no impact on the information in the main Google Search index. "Any special indexing we do for business customers does not impact Google.com," said Mangtani. When it comes to secondary search box it will allow searches restricted to a specific site, its queries the main Google index rather than Google Site Search index. (Note: Secondary search boxes merely provide an alternate format to submit a query using the site: search operator.)

Mangtani cleared that some news sites may not need on-demand indexed because Google index high-volume producers of content more frequently than the average corporate Web site.. But sites like business or government, which are indexed several times a day, are most likely to use a bottom to summon Google's search crawler, he added.

AMD's 'Shanghai' with 45nm tecnhnology

Advanced Micro Devices well known as AMD on Thursday will launch Shanghai, a next-gen version of its Opteron server processor. Analysts says this launching is critical step for AMD's to give some competition to its market dominating rival Intel.
AMD used its advanced 45-nanometer semiconductor fabrication process to built Shanghai. This switch over brings AMD up to manufacturing parity with Intel. Nearly a year ago, Intel already switched to 45nm technology which means they are ahead of AMD.

Talking about Shanghai processors they are in quad-core models for two, four and eight-socket x86 servers. Officially known as Opteron 8000 and 2000 series, the chips contain clock speeds from 2.3 GHz to 2.7 GHz and power consumption is about 75 watts.
AMD plans to release a low power chip of 55 watts and another a faster one of 105 watts in the quarter of up coming year. A desktop version, code named Deneb(named after a star), is scheduled for release before the end of this year.

Shanghai will be sold under the Opteron brand and will range from $377 to $989 for the 2000series and from $1,165 to $2,149 for the faster 8000 series. The major computer makers like IBM, Dell, Hewlett-Packard are planning to ship Shanghai powered products.

While comparing Shanghai with its previous generation of Opteron chips it is expected to deliver a significant 35% increase in power efficiency and performance, almost triple the cache and higher clock speeds. AMD also scheduled to deliver HyperTransport 3, a technology that AMD claims will boost communication speeds between silicon. With all this advancements, Shanghai is a strong candidate for powering visualization technology.

Shanghai can easily replace current current AMD chip, and can be plugged in same motherboards with only a BIOS upgrade, this will make AMD's customer a easily switch over to Shanghai with a very less efforts according to AMD.

Google Introduce Voice/Video Chat program in Web-mail Client

On 11 Nov, 2008, Google embedded a total new feature to their chatting program in Gmail. Now Gmail users can chat to their friends and relative by including live audio and video on their contacts.

It is to be noted that, standalone chat programs such as AIM and Yahoo IM have offered voice and video chat for years, but none of the major Web mail client offer video chatting capabilities within e-mail program itself.

Google says, "To get started, open a Gmail chat window, click on the "Options" menu at the bottom, and choose "Add voice/video chat," which will walk you through the installation of a free plug-in (a 2-MB download). Panasonic To Buy Sanyo

On Nov 7 Friday, Panasonic Corp said it would acquire smaller rival Sanyo Electric Co, if this happen Panasonic will be Japan's top electronics maker.
The acquisition, which one analyst estimated could be about $8.8 billion, which could make Panasonic a tough competitor in rechargeable batteries and solar power equipments and since demand for greener energy sources as increasing this deal seems to be profitable for Panasonic Corp.

After deal Panasonic will become world's second largest conglomerate with a major electronic division, behind General Electric and surpassing Hitachi Ltd as the biggest electronics maker in Japan.

"Strategically (the deal) makes sense, though it doesn't necessarily make sense for Panasonic to take on every single bit of Sanyo Electric," said Hannah Cunliffe, fund manager at Germany's Union Investment, which holds Panasonic shares. "There has to be some relatively aggressive restructuring."
The announcement was well flagged and sources told Reuters last weekend that Sanyo and Panasonic, which sits on $10 billion in cash, had agreed in principle to a deal.

Panasonic is the world's top most plasma TV maker formerly known as Matsushita Electric and therefore want this deal to happen because Sanyo is one of the leading company in making of rechargeable batteries, which is widely used in mobile phones, laptops, music players and in cars too to increase car power.
Currently, Sanyo supplies nikel metal hydride batteries to well known Motor companies Ford Motors Co and Honda Motor Co Ltd. Also develop lithium-ion batteries for cars like Volkswagen AG.

By this deal Panasonic will enter in solar market, since Sanyo is seventh-largest solar cell maker.

In an new conference, Panasonic President, Fumio Ohtsubo, said "Adverse business conditions are making it difficult for us to achieve the kind of growth we have been striving for," he said. "We need a new growth engine within our group."

Open Source Cloud Computing

Cloud-computing platform such as Google App Engine, Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), and Mircosoft's Azure Services has provided business a new flexibility to computer resources. Now startups can operate their business with much lower infrastructure costs. Instead of paying or renting hardware, now user have to pay only for processing power that they actually use.
Cloud computing comes with a drawback which includes privacy, security and reliability.

So there is now growing interest in open-source cloud computing, for which the source code is freely available. There tools will help companies to build and customize their own computing clouds. Eucalyptus is one of the open-source software-infrastructure project.

Rich Wolski, a professor in the CS department at The University of California, Santa Barbara, who directs the Project Eucalyptus, says ""We actually started from first principles to build something that looks like a cloud. As a result, we believe that our thing is more malleable. We can modify it, we can see inside it, we can install it and maintain it in a cloud environment in a more natural way."

'Pron Mode' Arrives At Firefox Private Browsing

Private Browsing include in pre-release version of Firefox 3.1 Beta 2, according to Programmer Ehsan Akhgar.

"Private Browsing aims to help you make sure that your Web browsing activities don't leave any trace on your own computer," Akhgar explained in a blog post. "It is very important to note that Private Browsing is not a tool to keep you anonymous from Web sites or your ISP, or for example protect you from all kinds of spyware applications which use sophisticated techniques to intercept your online traffic. Private Browsing is only about making sure that Firefox doesn't store any data which can be used to trace your online activities, no more, no less."
Other browsing companies like Apple's Safari, Google's Chrome and Mircosoft's IE 8 Beta 2 all feature a private browsing mode referred to as "Pron Mode".

Firefox is already sharing 20% of browsing globe market for two out of the four weeks last month. "Congratulations to the Mozilla community for reaching this historic milestone!" exclaimed Ken Kovash, Mozilla's metrics chief, in a blog post.

Private browsing feature will be soon available to the general public in Firefox 3.1 Beat 2, which is soon going to be release.
You can also download its current developer version build at the Mozilla Developer page.

Java Tutorial

Java is an Object-orientated language that enables you to create real world applications. The code re usability feature of Java enables the software developers to upgrade the existing application without rewriting the entire code of the application.
Since Java id OOP's based language I recommended to have a little programming language in following fields:
1. Description the concept and features of object-oriented programming.
2. Declaration and work with variables, literals and arrays.
3. Creating classes and objects and add methods to a class.
4. Identify the various types of access specifiers.
5. Implementing the different conditional statements and looping statements.
6. Pass arguments o methods and create nested classes and add assertions in Java.
7. Use u nary, bit-wise, shift, instanceof operator, and identify the operator’s precedence.

->Characteristics of Java:-
The choice for having a programming language that fulfills all the requirements is Java because it exhibits the following characteristics:

i] Simple : A Java programmer does not need to know the internal details of Java as to how memory is allocated to data because in Java, the programmer does not need to handle memory manipulation.

ii] Object-Oriented: Java supports the object-oriented approach to developed programs.

iii] Compiled and Interpreted: The Java program are first complied and then interpreted.

iv] Portable: Portability refers to the ability of a program to run on any platform without changing the source code of the program.

v] Distributed: Java is used to develop application that can be distributed among various computers on the network.

vi] Secure: Java has built-in security features that verify that the programs do not performs any destructive task, such as accessing the files on a remote system
