ATI Radeon HD 4890 And GeForce GTX 275 Out Same Day; Grab Your Machine!

The two big names in graphic industry AMD and Nvidia launch there GPUs officially.

AMD's ATI Radeon HD 4890 is heavily load as it 1.36 TeraFLOPS, GDDR5 memory using a 256-bit interface, 800 stream processors, and clock speeding almost about 1 GHz mark.

“The ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics card represents the AMD sweet spot strategy reloaded,” said Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager, Graphics Products Group, AMD. “With last year’s launch of the ATI Radeon HD 4850 and ATI Radeon HD 4870 products, we gave gamers great performance and an incredible value proposition. Today, we’re doing it again. ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics cards are incredible performers, priced to sell in all major markets worldwide.”

As we come to price section this high-end graphics card from ATI and the HD 4000 series card will be available for $249 (Rs. 12,750), and priced at select retailers as low as $229 after the mail-in rebate.

When it comes to Nvidia, they are out with there new GeForce GTX 275 GPU. This beaut is based on the GT200 architecture, featuring 240 processor core operating at 1404 MHz, 80 texture processing units, an 896 MB farmebuffer and a 448 bit memory interface.

Nvidia claims that it new GPU can handle Windows 7 heat, and is loaded with 185 new GeForce release drivers. Only thing that can hurt gamers is its availability since it will not available until 14th of April. This killing machine will cost your pocket about a price of $249.

High Performance Nvidia Ion Platform For Netbook

On Thursday, Nvidia said it expects to see its netbook graphics platform running alongside Intel's Atom processor in mini-laptops within six months, and in case of desktop it can be more sooner.

General Manager for Nvidia's Media and communication processor business unit, Drew Henry said that the company's GeForce 9400M motherboard graphics chipset, called the Ion platform, which could replace Intel chipsets typically used in today's netbooks, the 945GSE and the I/O controller hub 7, or ICH7. Netbooks, which cost as little as $300, are mini-laptops with screens 10 inches or smaller.

Nvidia claims that one of its chipset using Atom delivers is 10 times the speed of current Intel-only netbooks. This performance boost means a lot for mini-laptops which means it can run high-definition video on top of Microsoft's Window Vista or Microsoft's upcoming Window 7 operating  system, according to Nvidia. However, today's standard netbooks are ship out with Windows XP or Linux and have limited video capabilities.

Performance is an issues with netbook which yet not been solved. Industry observers say the systems are returned to retailers more often than standard laptops, mostly because of buyer unhappiness over thee inability of netbooks to go beyond basic Web browsing and e-mail.

Upcoming Nvidia's Intel-nly alternative will cost more. Henry estimates that a $300 netbook today which use the Intel platform and Window XP, would cost about $100 more with the GeForce 9400M and Window Vista Basic. Add Vista Premium and the price would probably jump another $50.

Manufacturers "would probably tell you that's a reasonable price range," Henry said.

Henry not opened the manufactures name which have already committed to sell Nvidia in netbooks, he also added that product will be available by June, while desktop will march out in March.

With a steady price drop, Nvidia believes standard laptop can fall below $500 next year. Such a low-price system would certainly be possible with Atom and the Nvidia GPU running side by side, Henry said.
"I don't see any reason why that wouldn't be possible," Henry said of the sub-$500 price. "This combination would make that possible."

Intel Releases Window 7 Graphics Driver

A pre-production version of Window 7 drivers for graphics chipsets has been released by Intel. The WDDM1.1 graphics driver is designed for ""enabling the full Windows 7 experience," Intel said, noting that the driver is the result of on-going collaboration with Microsoft.
"As a result of the collaboration, OEMs and beta users can stay in step with Windows 7 prereleases for smooth product development," Intel said.

This pre-production of drivers allows hardware components to communicate with a computer system OS. Window 7 is expected to be ship out in late 2009 or early 2010.

In Windows Vista case, when it was launched in January of last year, many hardware makers including Intel, didn't have fully compatible drivers ready. This happened due to bad press of Vista which leads to its downfall in OS market and ultimately it was rejected by the large proportion of businesses as well as consumers.

Avoiding previous mistakes which leads Vista towards downfall, this time Microsoft earlier this year ordered computer and other hardware makers to begin testing their devices on Windows 7 as soon as their beta version becomes available.

Microsoft's Window Logo will certified for compatibility program for Windows 7 or Windows Vista only when hardware makers that follows with the edict. "Beginning with the first beta of Windows 7 all Windows Vista submissions must include a complete CPK with test logs from Windows 7," Microsoft said in a 61-page bulletin to its hardware partners.

Microsoft's uncompromising stance with PC makers and Chipmakers on Window 7 compatibility should be no surprise. Microsoft is entangled in a lawsuit filed by consumers who claim they were misled into buying systems that, they contend, were labeled in an incorrectly manner as Vista compatible.

Microsoft unveiled Windows 7 features at its Los Angeles professional Developers Conference in October and are eagerly waiting to ship out there OS as soon as possible. Though company already announced saying that Window 7 won't available until early 2010, but the January releases of beta DVD is pointing that Window 7 could be on desktop late in 2009.
Microsoft is hoping Windows 7, which includes native support for touch screens, will help erase memories of Vista, which has been a disappointment for the company.

Microsoft's Morro Offering Free Security Software

On Tuesday, Microsoft said that they are planned to kill off its Window Live OneCare subscription security service in favor of a free offering that will feature a core of essential anti-malware tools while eliminates its peripheral services, like PC tune-up programs consist in OneCare.
This step will make Microsoft to get there footstep in low-cost PC market, a side-effect of this step is to catch the eye of trust busters.

Microsoft said, new services, presently code named Morro, will be suitable for use on low cost, low powered notebooks which are gaining popularity in markets and in some of the North American computer market.

"This new no-cost offering will give us the ability to protect an even greater number of consumers, especially in markets where the growth of new PC purchases is outpaced only by the growth of malware," said Amy Barzdukas, Microsoft's senior product manager for online services and Windows, in a statement.
The definition of malware consists a wide range of computer threats, including viruses, sypware, rootkits and Trojans. Many of the hackers connected to organized crime, many times hacker use such tools to extract sensitive data.

Microsoft announced to launch Morro in June 2009, at which time it will discontinue the $49.95/year OneCare service. Morro will be compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and forthcoming Window 7 operating system, the company said.

"By offering such basic protection at no charge to the consumer, Microsoft is promoting a safer environment for PCs, service providers and e-commerce itself," said industry analyst Roger Kay, president of Endpoint Technologies Associates.
