On Thursday, Samsung announced that it has used its 50-nm circuit technology to built the first and only 4-GB DDR3 PC memory chips, which is said that it offers more capacity will requires much less power than currently available DDR3 chips.
Aim of company is to built new green generation PCs with its new technology, which will be utilized in 16-GB dual in-line memory modules or likely to be used in RDIMM for servers; 8 GB unbuffered DIMM for workstation and desktop PCs, as well as for laptop with 8 GB small outline DIMM.
DDR3 is a type of DRAM technology, which comes with a several advantages over previous technology which was DDR2. Most beneficial point of DDR3 is its data transfer rate which is high up to eight times than the previous technology, while power consumption is reduce up to 30% and that makes a big difference, in particular when we all are talking about green technology.
"We have leveraged our strength in innovation to develop the first 4-GB DDR3, in leading the industry to higher DRAM densities," Kevin Lee, VP for technical marketing at Samsung Semiconductor, said in a statement.
Samsung's new technology is capable of operating at 1.35 volts and has a maximum speed of 1.6 Gbps, (for me it is quite high). Samsung is applying its dual-die package technology to its 16-GB modules which can be combined to get one maximum 32-GB dual-die package, which is twice the capacity of products based on the previous highest chip density.
Samaung said that it will imposed its 50 nm technology to all its DRAM products. It is to be noted that, company had already released its 50 nm 2-GB DDR3 DRAM, on other hand Samsung also offers 1-GB DDR3 DRAM.
According to IDC figures, it is said that by 2011, DDR3 is expected to account about 72% of the DDR market, while 29% this year.

When it comes to power requirement it consumes about 40 watts and provides support up to 4 different monitors with a high resolution of 2,560 by 1,600 pixels each. Company says, card fully supports both Intel and AMD processor and can run well with operating systems like Microsoft's Windows and Linux.
Card is already been tested on several business system, which includes Adobe's Creative Suite and Autodesk's AutoCAD designing software’s. The Quadro NVS 420 has been design for all sorts of fields whether user’s lies from content creator or work in oil and gas industry, it is suitable for all types of users.
Launching of the Quadro NVS 420 is expected in February which will cost about $499.
Nvidia already announced its future plans to releases products for low cost mini-laptops in middle of this current year, popularity of mini-laptops are growing fast and company expects a major profit in the field. Thou, company have seen some downturns in current time, which directly affects it PC sales that use Nvidia products. LG's Blu-ray Player Accessing CinemaNow And YouTube
LG Electronics has added features like CinemaNow and YouTube access via through Internet to its Blu-ray disc player. The new services will be available on Network Blu-ray Disc player, which is going to be launched in first half quarter of 2009. It will complement the Netflix support already in the devices, the company said.
Recently it was seen that player for the high-definition movie format have failed to be consumers favorite and the major reason for this cause was their high prices in comparison to standard DVD players. A Blu-ray DVD also cost more than standard than a standard DVD.
However, pricing of Blue-ray player have fallen significantly. For example, LG brand was available at Amazon for $290, and other players are hitting market at less than $200. Companies like LG, are hoping to get a higher price for their machines by adding broadband connections for accessing Web Services.
Analysts expect the market for on-demand movies over the Internet to grow in time and will replace DVD, as music download did to CD's. "LG is bridging the gap between packaged media and video-on-demand services to provide entertainment solutions for consumers' demand for content," Tim Alessi, director of product development for LG, said in a statement released Tuesday.
On one hand, where hardware vendors are trying to attract customers by providing Web services in machines. Online video rental services like Netflix and CinemaNow are using consumer electronics manufactures to get more customers. Netflix is also available through Samsung's Blu-ray player, and rental service says it hopes to get similar support in Sony and Panasonic.
Analysts say subscription models similar to Netflix's are likely to gain in popularity as an alternative to individual movie rentals. Netflix subscribers, who pay a monthly fee for having movies mailed to their homes, can also get access to films online at no additional charge.
LG plans to unveil its new Blu-ray players at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which runs Jan. 8-11.
